OK, my favourite birthday drink involves vodka in a glass bottle, vanilla beans, and patience. Pour out a little vodka (into a glass so you can drink it!) and then insert 10 or so whole vanilla pods into a 750mL bottle (don't split them open, just let infuse). Place the lid back on, shake, and let sit for a month or so. Patience, young padawan.
After at least a month, combine 1 part vanilla voddy, 1 part coffee liquer of choice, and 2 parts cold, black coffee. Shake in a martini shaker with ice, and strain into a chilled glass. Absolutely awesome!
Don't forget to keep topping up the original bottle of vodka up... the vanilla beans will let you know when they're done as the voddy will stay clear and doesn't take up any colour.
