Paranorman Pizza

It came from the graaave! Are you as excited for the new movie "Paranorman" from the makers of "Coraline"? We all know how much I love Coraline, and so when I found out about the new movie almost a year ago I became very ecstatic and waited for the right time to come. I didn't want to make a bento but I also didn't want it to be complicated - so a dark beet pizza sauce with a unique flatbread crust was the way to go! Its full of veggies so that everyone can get their nutrition and their "spooks" in.

Beet Marinara Sauce Recipe:
1 Beet Quartered and Roasted
1 Roasted Tomato
3 Roasted Carrots
5 Cloves of Roasted Garlic
1/2 tub of Vegan Cream Cheese
2 Minced Green Onions
Italian Seasonings
A touch of Vinegar
A heavy pinch of Salt

Blend your ingredients together, and place onto your preferred (pre-baked) pizza crust. Assemble with cheese and bake once more to melt the cheese. Top with vegan egg sheets, extra veggies or masa sheets and everyone will enjoy!

Ed, Edd and Eddy Bento

Its a Plan sandwich! I guess that's what happens when Jonny isn't around, but hey - what can you do? This is a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole-wheat bread with celery sticks, spinach, a mini yellow pepper and a plum. Its been a while since I've made something non-Coraline, but it is equally as wonderful.

Plank Sandwich Bento Ingredients:
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Whole Wheat Bread
Spinach
Celery
Purple Plum
Mini Yellow Pepper

Enjoy!

Bert and Ernie Bento

Its a little bit of simplified (mouth-less) Bert and Ernie on top of some extra-simple mini pizzas in a bento filled with fresh brocolli, cucumbers, spinach, cubed sweet potatoes and carrots. The pizzas were extra delicious and quick to make as they simply had a slice of tomato, garlic, herbs, red onion and olive oil on top of a whole-wheat cornmeal crust! On top there's a tiger-shaped pudding cup filled with raw vegan chia, mango and avocado pudding.

Bert and Ernie Bento Ingredients:
Soy Cheese
Tomatoes
Carrots
Nori
Brocolli
Cucumbers
Sweet Potato Cubes
Spinach
Red Onion and Tomato Pizza

I hope that you guys enjoy! ^^

Princess Mononoke Bento

I wanted to make this bento very simple as my bentos are (mostly) already natural. I used some leftover black bean chili that I had for last night's dinner and a bit of white rice with some vegetables (I also had a seperate veggie platter). The "H" is made out of a nori and it stands for both Hime (princess) and Hayao Miyazaki. The recipe is a bit different than what I did because I just mixed corn meal (sub rice flour) with chili.

Black Bean Burger Recipe:
1/4 cup of Cooked Black Beans + Juice
1 Jumbo Garlic Clove (minced and cooked)
1/4 Small Onion (minced and cooked)
1/2 Green Bell Pepper (minced)
Cumin, pepper, salt and chili powder to taste
Cornstarch or other thickener mixed + water (depending on your allergies)
Corn Meal or Rice flour (enough to make a paste)

Mix the ingredients together until they create a paste and then lightly oil or spray your cooking pan. Place the mixture in the pan and then cover it with a top until the bottom has cooked, flip it and then repeat until it has cooked to your liking. Add it on top of rice colored with chlorophyll and brocolli then create your kodama onigiri.

Enjoy!
